Today we mourn the passing of our beloved brother and partner, Phil Ramone.

Phil Ramone was a husband, friend, mentor, brother, father and partner. He was the personification of everything good that we do in music and in life. He selflessly shared his vast experience and knowledge with anyone that asked, or for that matter, didn't ask but needed to be set straight. Phil could get to the truth of any situation with a funny story or joke. He was a child prodigy, classically trained musician that spent his entire life serving the music and the people that make it. It's impossible to imagine a world without him, on the other end of the phone, or the other side of the studio glass. We are all better off that he was of this earth, leaving an incredible legacy of timeless music, and we're incredibly worse off that he is gone.

The METAlliance was founded by globally-recognized, award-winning audio engineers and producers who have been deeply involved in establishing techniques and technical standards that are the foundation of modern music recording. Pictured (L-R) are Frank Filipetti, Phil Ramone, Al Schmitt, Elliot Scheiner, Chuck Ainlay, Ed Cherney, and George Massenburg.

Established in 2005, the METAlliance is a collaborative community that promotes producers, engineers and audio technology manufacturers to work together to ensure the highest standards of audio production. The METAlliance has hosted a number of "In Session with the Guys" intensive workshops in which attendees work alongside the founders in recording a wide variety of musicians for actual public release. Alongside platforms for research and development, standardization and education, the METAlliance also works closely with manufacturers to evaluate and certify products that offer the highest levels of quality in the recording chain. To date, only a limited number of products have achieved this accolade. To learn more about METAlliance Certified products, click here.
